v2 ventures is seeking a Senior Accountant, reporting directly to the CFO, to join our corporate finance team in Kansas City. This individual will own the month-end close and consolidations processes, assist with treasury and cash management, be a key contact for the annual financial statement audit, help set up and provide ongoing support to new business ventures, research technical accounting issues, and supervise the accounts payable function.
This role is highly visible and includes frequent interaction with the finance and accounting teams in each of the subsidiary business units and the President of v2 ventures.

What will you do?
- Month-End: Key contributor to the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes – including corporate allocations, share-based compensation, journal entries, accrual estimates, subledger administration, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Consolidations: Work closely with the CFO to consolidate financial results of subsidiary business units, including intercompany activity and eliminations; partner with CFO to produce internal financial reports.
- Audit: Prepare consolidated GAAP financial statements, disclosures, and audit schedules for external auditors during interim and annual procedures; serve as key contact for audit requests.
- Treasury: Assist with cash management, including reconciling bank accounts and administering employee expense reports and company credit card programs.
- Accounts Payable: Oversee the accounts payable function, ensure efficient maintenance and processing of transactions including accurate and timely coding, approval and payment of invoices.
- Internal Controls: Recommend, implement and help maintain financial and accounting policies, procedures, and controls for the Company and its business unit subsidiaries.
- New Ventures: Assist in designing and implementing accounting processes for new business ventures in the incubation phase, such as customer invoicing and capitalized software development. Research accounting treatment for unusual transactions and new revenue models.
- Process Improvement: Think critically about accounting and finance processes to drive automation, efficiency, accuracy, and other improvements.
- Special Projects: Participate in special projects as needed – such as technical research, implementation of new accounting guidance, valuation analyses, M&A activity, and ad hoc reporting requests.
- Collaborate: Communicate and coordinate cross-functionally both within and outside of the v2 ventures Finance department to drive results and accomplish team goals.
- Other: Other duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA eligible preferred
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience – public accounting preferred and general ledger experience a plus.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts and accounting priniciples.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – with particular emphasis in Excel functions including pivot tables, vlookups, index, offset, match, & SSAS cubes.
- Must be detail-oriented and produce accurate work.
- Must be adaptable to change – able to quickly learn and master new concepts and skillls.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
- Enthusiastic about the accounting profession; willingness and ability to put in additional effort during certain periods to meet deadlines.
- Eager and driven to constantly learn and never accept the status quo – undertakes self- development activities to maintain and improve individual skills and abilities.
- Ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively and qualitatively, and problem-solve to find solutions and deliver results within a rapidly changing, entrepreneurial, and technology-driven culture.
