DevOps Engineer

Genetica is a Venture Capital backed start up in the Cannabis space. Retail is challenging even when everything is “going right.” Add in the complexities of cannabis where retailers face onerous regulations, fickle customers, and tight margins, it’s no wonder companies are struggling. Dispensaries are constantly looking for ways to attract and retain new customers so they can increase profits. But nobody is approaching it the right way. They are piecing together different tools and strategies instead of using their data to understand their customers, their employees, and their business. Insert Genetica. Genetica provides AI software that makes all data work for retailers, their customers, their employees and their stores.

We are seeking a dedicated DevOps Engineer to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive background in AWS, Jenkins, GitLab CI, CodePipeline, CloudFormation, Terraform, Python, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, CloudWatch, Grafana, and SageMaker. This role is pivotal in enhancing our infrastructure, streamlining our deployment processes, and ensuring the highest levels of system performance and availability.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, and AWS CodePipeline to ensure smooth and automated deployments.
Utilize a wide range of AWS services, including SageMaker, to optimize infrastructure, ensuring scalability, availability, and security.
Develop and maintain automation scripts in Python and Bash to enhance system operations and reduce manual interventions.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate software projects into the CI/CD pipeline.
Monitor system performance using tools like AWS CloudWatch and Grafana, troubleshoot issues, and ensure rapid resolution.
Stay updated with emerging DevOps tools and technologies, especially within the AWS ecosystem.
Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices using tools like AWS CloudFormation and Terraform.
Ensure system backups, disaster recovery, and failover strategies are in place and regularly tested.
Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with security best practices and standards.
Document and maintain DevOps processes, solutions, and best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
Comprehensive knowledge of AWS services, Jenkins, GitLab CI, CodePipeline, CloudFormation, Terraform, Python, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, CloudWatch, Grafana, and SageMaker.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools and containerization technologies.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
