Opportunity continues to bark for Mixed Mutt Creamery, Sherri Corwin said, announcing the dog-friendly ice cream shop will soon move from its Midtown storefront to join forces with another pet-focused small business in the Crossroads Arts District.
“This is a huge opportunity for growth,” Corwin told Startland News, detailing a new partnership between Mixed Mutt and City Dogs KC — an urban playground for pets, offering a dog park and grooming, boarding, and daycare services.
Like Mixed Mutt, City Dogs opened the gates on operations earlier this year, securing a space at 2001 Walnut St. — a bone’s throw away from the newly opened City Club Apartments Crossroads and along the existing streetcar line.
From “cheddar apple cream” to “barking maple bacon,” Corwin is known for churning 10 flavors of handmade, artisan ice cream — each one lactose free and specifically formulated for dogs with one additional flavor on hand (or paw) for cats.

Mixed Mutt is planning a grand opening of its space within the City Dogs complex Friday, Oct. 1, Corwin said, adding operations at its current, 39th street storefront will wrap up Sunday, Sept. 26.
“Nothing about our business operation will change. If anything we will have the opportunity to expand,” she said, noting Mixed Mutt will be able to increase its capacity to host birthday parties and events in addition to offering customers a more accessible retail shop and both indoor and outdoor seating options.
“This will also give us the opportunity to continue giving back to the KC Pet community. … Mixed Mutt and City Dogs are focused on KC Dogs and their owners — bringing enjoyable, memorable experiences,” Corwin said. City Dogs offers grooming, daycare, boarding, training and the dog park — we are adding the deliciousness to the ‘pawty.’”
Guests of Mixed Mutt’s grand opening during First Fridays in the Crossroads will have the chance to win door prizes and free ice cream for a year.
